About Mystery

​Bio

 

Mystery was born in the small city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1973. She has two degrees in horticulture and worked for years as a horticulturalist, consultant, and landscape designer. She is able apply her knowledge of trees, plants, and flowers, painting them in a convincing manner. During her early twenties, she studied art history and traditional painting technique using reference material and became a self-taught artist. For 25 years she has been working as a professional artist. Oil paint is her preferred medium, though recently she has also been doing some small works in gouache and watercolour on paper. Her paintings have been displayed in art shows and galleries on Vancouver island. Her paintings are in private collections throughout Canada. She resides in Port Alberni, BC, Canada where she mysteriously paints in her home studio.

Statement

​

“Painting is the key to the secret garden, it unlocks a doorway to a magical and mysterious place. Dark colours explore the depths of shadows, and then withdraw to reveal soft light. Through the delicate play of dark and light my heart finds a mysterious beauty. My deepest wish is that my paintings will evoke a shared sense of connection, wonder, and a feeling of mystery.” - Mystery
